2010: The Year of the Twelve Powers
Will is the spiritual power Unity is celebrating in August.
Affirmation: I choose my good based on spiritual understanding.
The following excerpt is from Your God-Given Potential: Unfolding the Twelve Spiritual Powers by Winifred Wilkinson Hausmann.
“It is our job in developing our God-given potentialities to re-educate the will, the directing power of our mind, to teach it to become receptive to spiritual motivation, rather than to goals determined by materialistic pursuits.
… One way or another, we are using our will, our executive mind power, all the time. We choose a course of action. We resist or resent. We submit or fight back. We aim high or we slide backward.”
… The rewards of unifying our wills with the will of God are great. They include health, happiness, joy, peace, harmony, prosperity, and other good that we cannot even visualize in our present state of consciousness.”
Access music, meditations, articles and other resources about the Power of Understanding for July and the Power of Will for August.
Wellness on a Shoestring
Wellness on a Shoestring: Seven Habits for a Healthy Life, a new book from Unity House®, gives readers seven steps to achieve and maintain wellness without spending a lot of money.
“One of the most rejuvenating activities you can participate in for wellness is some form of regular spiritual practice during which you are present in the moment. It could be praying, chanting, meditating, gardening, hiking, even drinking a cup of coffee ritualistically every morning—anything you do in which you stay in the moment.
“… Frustration occurs when our ego mind says, ‘The world isn’t the way I think it should be!’ This allows for no trust in a higher power, no faith in a bigger plan than what can currently be seen or comprehended with our limited understanding. Anytime you feel yourself becoming frustrated, ask yourself, ‘What is happening here that I think should be different? Should it really be different, or am I frustrated because I am trying to control something, insisting on my way?’ Releasing the need to control can immediately shift our frustration to a more relaxed state, allowing us to function in better ways.”
Read an excerpt of Wellness on a Shoestring to learn why breathing well is crucial to good health.
