“One of the faculties most prized by Jesus was the gift of wisdom, or spiritual judgment. … Always he pointed to the importance of judging by the standards of the higher Self, rather than by the example set in the world. … As we follow Jesus in developing our God-given potential, we, too, must learn to ‘judge with right judgment’ and to turn to the inner spiritual knowing. We cannot afford to allow ourselves to be caught up in judging according to appearances, making decisions based simply on intellectual knowledge, or accepting limiting concepts constantly presented to us by the worldly viewpoint.”

Sing With Joy

This excerpt is from a compilation of writings by Unity’s co-founder Charles Fillmore called Dynamics for Living.

“There is an intimate relationship between happiness and health. When you feel good you sing, either audibly or silently. … Nearly anyone can sing a little song. It is a marvelous health restorer. Singing restores harmony to tense nerves. Its vibrations stir them into action, thus making it possible for the ever-waiting healing Spirit to get in.

“When men think a great deal about spiritual things and especially about God as an indwelling spiritual presence, both mind and body are thrilled with joy, a feeling of satisfaction, and a tendency to break out in songs of gladness.

“Sing in your soul. You can sing ‘way down inside yourself.’ Soon you will be singing with your voice. Persons everywhere, in every age, have told of an inner glory and happiness when they go into the habit of concentrating the mind on God.”
